Early Life and Education

Hill was born in Bermuda in the 1970s and immigrated to the United States with her family during elementary school, eventually settling in Lynchburg, Virginia. She grew up in the country club her father managed, an experience that shaped her early understanding of service, operational systems, and leadership.

She attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), graduating summa cum laude in 1995 with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. She was named Outstanding Senior of the Year in the College of Human Resources and Education (Spectrum, 1995).

Hill became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2005 and later spoke at the Kinston Noon Rotary Club about her experience and the perseverance required to complete the naturalization process (Kinston Free Press).

Early Career

Following her graduation from Virginia Tech in 1995, Hill accepted a position as Assistant Manager of the Kinston Country Club in Kinston, North Carolina, where she earned multiple awards through the Club Managers Association of America for her work in operations and member engagement. She later transitioned into consulting, hotel brokerage, and commercial underwriting, building a cross-sector foundation in systems, sales, and strategic planning.

Waste and Recycling Industry

In 2002, Hill joined OCS Waste & Recycling, a waste hauling company based in Deep Run, North Carolina. She managed office operations, sales representatives, broker and central accounts, and special projects, contributing to the company's growth across municipal and commercial markets in eastern North Carolina.

Hill was actively involved with the Independent Waste Haulers Association, the National Solid Waste Management Association, and the Detachable Container Association, participating in discussions on operational efficiency and industry best practices.
